Hi there! I’m Joshua Smith and I’ll be guest blogging for your local Northglenn insurance agent, Brody Leinweber. I thought it would be great to share a little bit of my experience with accidents and why you should have full coverage on your vehicle even when your car isn’t worth a lot. It all comes down to VALUE.
108th and Colorado Blvd.
I’ve seen many accidents at this intersection. A few months ago, I was hit at this very intersection. There are three things I wish I’d had on my auto insurance:
- Medical payments
- Collision coverage
- Comprehensive coverage
Medical Payments
Medical payment coverage will take care of any medical payments up to the medical payment amount. This is important. When you’re hit it’s very important to visit the chiropractor and make sure your back and neck are okay. Medical payment coverage will pay for any medical treatment. If you already have great medical insurance, great! These medical payments just add to the coverage you already have, but without copays or deductibles.
Full Coverage
If you have collision and comprehensive on your auto insurance, you’re regarded as having “full coverage.” I never thought I needed to have full coverage on my vehicle since it wasn’t worth a whole lot of money, but I was wrong. I was missing a crucial piece of information when it came to having full coverage insurance.
If somebody hits you and it’s not your fault, you can call up your insurance company and they’ll take care of you if the other person’s insurance doesn’t pay out. If you’re finding yourself in a situation where the at-fault driver’s insurance company isn’t giving you compensation for damages, your insurance company has the ability to sue the insurance company of the driver that hit you in order to get you the payout you deserve. This is even better when it’s an accident involving more than two vehicles and multiple insurance companies. The claims process is a pain, but if you have full coverage, you’ll be using your insurance company. When it comes to dealing with great claims reps, Safeco is really great way to go. Travelers also has a lot of neat programs. Call Brody Leinweber’s agency so we can get you more details.
